You spend a third of your life against one piece of fabric. Almost nobody stops to ask what it is made of.

Leif & Sons started with a question nobody could answer for us. Why does a bed that looks perfect still sleep badly?

We kept meeting people who had done everything right. The good mattress. The blackout curtains. The cool room, the early night, the phone left in the other room. And still the 3 a.m. wake up. Still the covers kicked off, then pulled back on an hour later. Still the morning where you have technically slept eight hours and feel like you have slept four.

Every time, we came back to the same overlooked layer. The sheets. Check the tag on most bedding sold in the last decade, including the sets marketed as cooling, and you will find polyester or microfiber. The same polymer as a plastic bottle. It cannot absorb moisture, so everything your body releases at night stays trapped between you and the fabric.

So we built the brand we wished existed. Not another cooling technology. The fabric people in the hottest parts of the world have slept in for thousands of years, made the way it was made before anyone thought to rush it.

Our mission

Make the bed the reason you sleep well, not the reason you do not.

Better sleep does not need to be complicated or engineered. Your body has to shed two to three degrees of core heat to drop into deep sleep. Give it a fabric that lets that heat out, and most of the problem solves itself. Our job is to make that fabric properly, and to make it something you actually want on your bed.

What we make

100% European flax linen bedding. Fitted sheets cut with deep 16 inch pockets, envelope style pillowcases, and a linen storage bag instead of a plastic sleeve, in seven colours built to sit quietly in a room rather than shout at it.

One product line, made well, is a deliberate choice. We would rather perfect a single sheet set than dilute our attention across a catalogue.

How our linen is made

The fabric is only as good as the process, and the process is the part almost everyone now skips.

Slow grown flax. Our flax grows in Europe's coastal flax belt, where sea air and humidity strengthen each fibre from root to tip. It cannot be forced and it cannot be hurried.

Pulled root and all. The whole plant is pulled from the ground rather than cut, which keeps the long fibres intact. This single step is the reason real linen lasts decades instead of years.

Naturally retted. The flax is broken down by dew and rain over weeks, not by chemical baths over hours. The fibre stays hollow, alive and breathable.

Woven on traditional looms. Our weavers use the same loom techniques their grandfathers used. Nothing is blended in, nothing is coated on.

Four steps, done slowly. It is more expensive and far less efficient than the industrial alternative. It is also the entire difference.

The people who make it

Our linen comes from Beau Renard, who has worked the same weaving farm for 47 years.

When the factories arrived with speed, blends and margins, the farms around him sold up or shut their looms down one by one. He repaired old machines instead of replacing them and kept weaving when it made no financial sense at all, because some things should not be abandoned simply because they do not scale.

When we came to him, we did not ask him to speed up, change his process or cut a corner. We built the brand around his standard instead of asking him to meet ours. That is still how the relationship works.

What we believe

Real fibre or nothing. No polyester, no microfiber, no blends quietly mixed in to protect a margin. If the plant does not do it naturally, we do not claim it.

Slow beats fast. Rushed flax tears. Forced flax dies. Every shortcut in linen production saves time and costs the fabric something permanent.

A sheet should get better, not worse. Synthetic bedding pills, degrades and gets replaced. Linen relaxes and softens with every wash while staying stronger than cotton. You are not buying something that wears out. You are buying something that breaks in.

No showroom tricks. Cool to the touch fabrics are woven dense or coated so they feel icy for the first five minutes and block airflow for the next eight hours. We are not interested in the fabric that wins the first impression. We are interested in the one that wins the whole night.

Honest packaging. Your set arrives folded in a linen bag, not sealed in plastic. It tells you what kind of company this is before you have opened it.
